Thank you, Regula Fuchs, for this wonderful and in-depth interview in Der Bund and the Berner Zeitung. In A Gaze of One's Own, I question the representation of the nude female body in photography. I photograph myself because I cannot objectify myself.
«For 200 years, it has primarily been men who took photographs and women who were photographed—often nude. This has left its mark on all of us. For many female bodies, especially aging ones, we lack reference images. The same is true for many other people and body types. There are gaps in our collective perception. On top of that, the prevailing image of the female body remains very limited.»
